Specialists of the charity organization “From Heart to Heart” in partnership with local police representatives of the juvenile prevention department of the State of Cherkasy region during December and January visited the boarding schools of Cherkasy region for the purpose of providing informational and consulting assistance to psychologists and social educators in identifying children affected by trafficking people. Also during the visits, information materials were distributed to protect children from being trafficked.

During the meeting, they discussed the situation with children who periodically and seasonally arrange work and travel to other cities, experts also focused on the criteria and indicators for the identification of children affected by human trafficking. A way to support and assist such children, in the event of human trafficking, was discussed.

The employees of the institutions state that their responsibility as a pedagogical staff is to ensure the proper rights of all children and have enough knowledge of human trafficking which is very limited at the moment. Also, specialists from all educational institutions have noticed that they have insufficient information and video materials to take preventive measures against trafficking in children.

Visits to the institutions were held within the framework of the project “Development of the Capacity of Children’ Services” as well as personnel of state child care and care institutions for the identification of children affected by human trafficking and providing them with assistance within the framework of the National mechanism of interaction between actors involved in activities with the financial support of the US Department of State’s Office of Monitoring and Combating Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD).
